Beware the waterproofing contractors that do not offer options!

A basement or crawl space leak can be horrifying. Most people do not know where to turn. In today’s world, 92% of homeowners turn to the internet to find waterproofing contractors. This is a great resource that can provide reviews and information on many companies all at once.

The frustration sets in even more when you try to decipher which company fits your needs best. There are multitudes of so called waterproofing contractors listed on the internet. Each one of these contractors has their own sales pitch to convince you that their system is best. They use words like patented, advanced, state of the art, and a host of other buzz words that are designed to give you a sense of security.

Did you know that there are multiple options available to correct a basement leak? Many waterproofing contractors only offer one solution. Of course their solution is best, and all other options are dismissed as outdated, unreliable, or my personal favorite, unable to warranty. The reality is that water leaking into a basement or crawl space can come from multiple sources, and therefore require variations in repair to solve the problem.

We recommend that you ask all waterproofing contractors that you interview for your project the following questions:

  1.   What options for repair do you offer?
  2.   Does your system address the source of the water, or just collect it?
  3.   Is there maintenance items that can help with the health of my foundation?
  4.   Do you have the ability to design a specific repair, or do you just install the same system everyday?

With just a few quality questions, you will find that many waterproofing contractors do not spend time investigating the source of your problem, and focus more on selling you the system they install. By pointing out things that benefits their system, and often running down everyone else’s systems, they feel they can pressure you into signing on the dotted line that day. Waterproofing Contractors

A true waterproofing contractor will be educated in all systems on the market, install multiple types of systems, and be there to educate you on the health of your foundation. This education includes foundation maintenance, repair options, and a detailed explanation of the source of your water.
